About Susan

Hello!

Hello! I’m Susan, a licensed clinical social worker and EMDR-trained therapist based in Virginia who works with children, teens, young adults, adults, and families. I offer in-person counseling at my office in Alexandria, VA, and remote sessions for residents of Virginia and Utah. I have served as a clinical director of children's services, a mental health specialist within a school district, and an outpatient therapist specializing in working with adults, children, and their families. I am a licensed school educator in the State of Utah, with an endorsement in social work.

For 27 years, I worked in Salt Lake County, serving at-risk and under-resourced youth and families, as well as providing expertise and consultation to behavioral health agencies, school districts, and county and state human service agencies. I have extensive experience providing clinical care to youth, adults, and families experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, feelings of isolation, emotional and behavioral dysregulation, and challenges in their daily lives.

I absolutely love supporting and connecting with children, teens, adults, and families and in helping them to feel increasingly successful in their daily lives and more hopeful for their futures. In our sessions, we will work together to develop short-term and long-term goals, engage in skill-building, and create a roadmap of strategies and interventions that will support you in experiencing enhanced resilience, increased self-awareness, improved well-being, and healthier connections with others. I am looking forward to working with your child, teen, family, and/or you.
